How Your Ceremony Flows—Step by Step

Calm, personal, and well-paced from the walk down the aisle to the big “just married” moment.

Welcome & Opening

Settle in, breathe, and bring everyone into the moment.

I’ll cue your processional, get you into place, welcome your guests, and set the tone—warm, relaxed, and still a little “wow.” We can include a brief prayer, reading, or moment of silence if you’d like, or keep it completely secular.

Sample opening words

“Friends and family, welcome. Today we’re here to celebrate [Name] and [Name] as they step into married life. In the next few minutes, we’ll share a few words, a few laughs, and a promise that will shape the rest of their story. I invite you to be fully present—take a breath, look around at the faces you love, and let’s enjoy this moment together.

Your Reflection on Love, Vows & Rings

The personal, emotional center of your ceremony.

I’ll bring your story to life through a personalized Reflection on Love—how you met, what you value in one another, and the everyday moments that make your relationship yours. Then we’ll move into your vows and rings: you can repeat after me, read your own, or combine the two. We can also include unity traditions, readings, or family moments.

Sample story + vows moment

“When they first crossed paths, neither of them knew this would lead here. But over late-night conversations, shared responsibilities, and small everyday kindnesses, they realized they’d found home in each other. Today, they’re choosing that home on purpose.”

“Now, we’ll move into vows. [Name], please repeat after me… ‘I take you, [Name], as my partner in life, my closest friend, and my greatest blessing…’ ”

Pronouncement & Send-Off

Seal it with a kiss and a big cheer.

After your vows and rings, I’ll complete the ceremony with the appropriate legal declaration and a clear, joyful pronouncement. We’ll finish with your kiss, a cue to your wedding party, and a smooth recessional so you can head back up the aisle to all the cheers and hugs.

Sample pronouncement

“By the power vested in me by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and with the love and support of everyone gathered here, I now pronounce you husband and wife / spouses in marriage. You may share your first married kiss.

“Friends and family, it is my honor to introduce, for the very first time… [Name] and [Name]!

What to bring for your ceremony

Your original marriage license issued and valid for your ceremony date
Photo IDs for both of you so I can confirm names before completing the license
New Jersey ceremonies: two adult witnesses (18+) who are present and able to sign the certificate
Rings and ring box, if you’re planning a ring exchange
Any name pronunciations or special wording notes
The agreed payment method, if any balance is due that day

For Pennsylvania ceremonies, I can usually return the completed marriage certificate to the county that issued the license, or we’ll follow that county’s specific instructions. For New Jersey ceremonies, I’ll return the completed documents to the local registrar where the marriage took place.

Pro tip

Bring the exact license pages your county provided (no photocopies), and double-check that your names match your IDs. If anything looks off, we can pause and fix it before we sign.

License timing at a glance

Quick reference for when to apply, how long your license is valid, witnesses, and filing—whether we’re meeting for a full ceremony or a simple signing.
